Program Objective
Individuals who complete this intensive training will develop the ability to use hypnotic skills effectively. This course is specifically designed for self improvement or for those in the medical professions-Physicians, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers, Holistic Health Practitioners, Clergy, Educators, Sales Persons, Athletes, etc. In addition this course is suitable for persons desiring to develop a new vocation; or are considering a part-time or supplemental career.
Eligibility and Entrance Requirements
There are no restrictions on who may attend training. The training is both for those persons new to the field and for those who wish to refine their skills. Persons over 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent may be admitted.
Enrollment
Courses are scheduled over weekends. This schedule allows a student to obtain total classroom instruction and complete Directed Independent Study within a period of two weeks, thereby fulfilling the requirements for a Diploma. Courses are typically scheduled as 1 session per quarter.
Quarter 1 begins January 10th
Quarter 2 begins April 10th
Quarter 3 begins July 10th
Quarter 4 begins October 10th
Enrollment is limited to thirty students per course offering.
Diploma
A diploma will be awarded to each student who successfully completes al course requirements.
License and approval statement
Ohio Academy of Hypnosis is registered with the State of Ohio Board of Career Colleges and Schools.
Licensing
There is no formal licensing for Hypnotherapists at this time. However, the nature and scope of the hypnotherapy practice may require license in the future by the State of Ohio.

Enrollment Dates
Courses are scheduled on a quarterly basis and enrollment must be completed prior to 10 days before the starting date of class.

Tuition includes a 50% discount on all of Hypnosis Academy’s cassette tapes. Your name will be added as a subscriber to subconsciously speaking. Subconsciously speaking, our educational newsletter has as its purpose the elevation of the consciousness of all who read it. This is accomplishes by the publishing of important and timely information, as well as advice and ideas from knowledgeable experts.

Instructions
Selection of instructions is based on their practical experience in the field of hypnosis and their specialized training. Each instructor’s qualifications are on file with representative State Department of Education.
Legal holidays
School will be closed on all legal holidays including: Christmas, New Years, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Veterans, & Thanksgiving days unless otherwise noted.
Placement
The school does not guarantee placement of its students.
Books and Materials
All required books and materials suggested for the courses will be available the first day of class, at the current RETAIL price. The school maintains a bookstore and most of the texts used in classes are available for purchase prior to classes. To order ahead of time, please call the office for specifics. Required course materials should not exceed $100 per course.
Financing & scholarships
Financing is available. Occasionally the school offers scholarships in the form of reduced tuition to college students with current I.D. and to full time clergy currently involved in this field. For either financing or scholarship requests a written request and financial circumstances must be submitted for consideration before a determination will be made. Send in the completed application form and fees as directed with your request.
Prior Learning Credits
Prior Learning credits may be granted for alternative Hypnosis Training Programs. To establish experiential learning credits contact the School Director for Application.

Hypnotherapy Program
100-102 Basic Hypnosis Part 1 & 2 (40 hrs.) $697.00 + Books
200-Advanced Hypnosis (40 hrs.) $749.00 + books
300-Medical Hypnoanalysis (40 hrs.) $797.00 + books
Certification
Upon successful completion of 120 hour core training program the student will be eligible to take the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association National Certification exam. Upon successful completion of the exam the student will be recognized as a Certified Hypnotherapist (C.Ht.) by the IMDHA.
Continuing Education
To maintain the IMDHA Certification 30 hours of annual Continuing Education Hours (CEH) must be validated. Continuing Education Hours must be related to Hypnosis and/or healing of mind, body, or spirit.
Termination
The school has the right to terminate a student because of excessive absences, disregard of the rules and regulations of the school, and for unsatisfactory or failing grade point average. Any student repeating a behavior he/she was previously put on probation for will be subject to termination. The official date of termination is the date of a violation by the student of the rules and regulations. Students will be notified in writing of the termination date by the school within 3 days of his/her dismissal.
Re-Admittance
Completing a personal interview with the school director may readmit any student who is on probation or has dropped out of the program. In addition, the readmitted student will be required to pay the $100 application fee as well as complete a new enrollment agreement.

Tax deductions
An income tax deduction is allowed for educational expenses (including tuition, travel, meals and lodging) undertaken to maintain and improve professional skill- Treasury Regulation 11625.

100-Basic Hypnosis Part 1 (20 hrs.)
This 20 hour course is designed to cover the following topics:
· Pre-induction talk;
· How to hypnotize; how to teach Self-hypnosis;
· How to properly explain Hypnosis;
· How to establish rapport;
· Factors that influence suggestibility to Hypnosis;
· Suggestibility tests;
· Group hypnosis;
· Dehypnotization;
· Authoritarian and Permissive induction techniques;
· Posthypnotic suggestion;
· Deepening techniques;
· Hypnosis for fears and phobias, smoking cessation, stress reduction, weight control, memory retention/loss/improvement, learning, stage fright, confidence, sales, relaxation;
· History of Hypnosis;
Setting up a practice; Dress/attire and appearance; Advertising/Marketing.
102-Basic Hypnosis Part 2 (20 hrs.)
This 20 hour course explores the following hypnosis concepts:
· Rapid Inductions;
· Catalepsy;
· Positive & Negative Hallucinations;
· Stage Hypnosis;
· Overview; Medical uses;
· Advanced induction techniques (Elman);
· Basic Ericksonian concepts;
· Non-directive Hypnotherapy (Hickman);
· Rapport; (
· NLP) Introduction to Neuro-Linguistic Programming;

200-Advanced Hypnotherapy (40 Hrs.)
Pre-resiquite-Completion of Basic Hypnotherapy 100-102 required
This 40 hour course is focused on the advancement of the skills in hypnosis including:

300-Medical Hypnoanalysis (40 hrs.)
*Pre-resiquite-Due to the advanced nature of this course content enrollment requires the successful completion of Basic Hypnosis 101-102 and the Advanced Hypnotherapy 200 courses.
This 40 hour course is specifically designed for the health or wellness practitioner. It is focused on pain management, glove anesthesia, and advanced concepts for the hypnosis practitioner. This is a wonderful complement to any dentistry, medical, or psychological application and practice.

SCHOOL POLICIES
Attendance
Students must attend all classroom lectures to qualify for a Certificate of Completion.
Grading System
Students will be graded by tests, demonstrations of ability and class participation. Classes are based on pass/fail criteria based on the point system. Each course will be graded on the following criteria:
Attendance 50% of course completion (50 pts)
Participation & Demonstration of Skill 25% of course completion (25 pts.)
Written Exam 25% of course completion (25 pts.)
Scale:
Passing-75% or above
Fail-below 74%
Progress Reports
Progress reports are available upon request.
Probation
Although we do not recognize an academic probation the Instructor will personally notify you if the level of academic achievement is not being met. The purpose of this meeting will be to establish a work plan to achieve the academic level required to keep place with the course. This work plan may include additional assignments outside of the scope of classroom work to improve skills required. The student must achieve a Passing Grade to receive credit. The staff will work diligently to ensure that each student has the proper support and instruction and will expect the same willingness to grow from the student.
Conduct
Students will be a credit to themselves and to the school. All school rules must be followed. No alcohol or drugs will be allowed. The school administration maintains the right to dismiss students for violation of school rules or for conduct which reflects unfavorably on the reputation or operation of the school.
Refund Policy
According to the Ohio State Rule #3332-1-10 refund policy - Refunds in clock hour programs shall be made for each academic term in accordance with the following procedures:
(1) A student who starts class and withdraws before the academic term is fifteen per cent completed will be obligated for twenty-five per cent of the tuition and refundable fees plus the registration fee.
(2)A student who starts class and withdraws after the academic term is fifteen per cent complete but before the academic term is twenty-five per cent completed will be obligated for fifty per cent of the tuition and refundable fees plus the registration fee.
(3) A student who starts class and withdraws after the academic term is twentyfive per cent complete but before the academic term is forty per cent completed will be obligated for seventy-five per cent of the tuition and refundable fees plus the registration fee.
(4) A student who starts class and withdraws after the academic term is forty per cent completed will not be entitled to a refund of the tuition and fees.
Charges for required purchase of books and supplies can be non-refundable if the student has
consumed or used those items of books and or supplies.
A student may make a written request for consolation with the instructor at any given time. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
As a student of the Academy you will receive a free student membership in the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association. Upon completion of the certification training you qualify to take the IMDHA Certification exam. The certification exam is given the last day of the Hypnotherapy Course. The fee includes the exam and the first year dues in the IMDHA.
The Hypnotherapist
The dictionary of Occupational Titles (D.O.T.), published by the United States Department of Labor, defines occupations and assigns identification number to each occupation.
This publication is recognized and utilized by Federal and State agencies including the State of Michigan, Department of Education, Employment Development and Unemployment Insurance agencies. It is also utilized by U.S. colleges and universities for career guidance and counseling.
079.157-010-Hypotherapist “induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior patterns. Prepare client to enter hypnotic state by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience.
Tests subject to determine degrees of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic state in client using individualized methods and techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client’s problem. May train in self hypnosis conditioning.”
Additional Education available
After completing the Hypnotherapy course described in this catalog, the student is fully qualified to be a professional Hypnotherapist and may immediately begin practicing as such. However, additional education is available for the student who in interested in further knowledge and enhanced professional status.
Ohio Academy of Hypnosis and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association offer periodic continuing education seminars in hypnotherapy and related subjects.
